The funeral of Francis Gatacre (September 17, 1942). Gatacre was taken prisoner of war at Dieppe in August 1942. He died of peritonitis in the Stadtrode POW Camp. He was buried with military honours. A German firing squad fired an honorary salute with three salvos. After the war Gatacre’s remains were reburied in Holten War Cemetery (Photo Library and Archives, Canada)
